Welcome to BetaStries. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website (betastries.com) and iOS/macOS applications (including Store A Link, Road Ledger, and any future apps).

By accessing our website or using our apps, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use our services.

Using Our Services

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use our services. If you’re under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

Your Account

Some features may require an Apple ID for iCloud sync. You’re responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your Apple ID
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Keeping your device secure

Acceptable Use

When using our services, you agree not to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from our apps
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access our services
• Interfere with or disrupt our services or servers

Our Apps

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use our apps for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms and the Apple App Store terms.

App-Specific Terms

Store A Link

• Store A Link is a personal bookmark manager
• Your saved links, tags, and metadata are stored locally on your device
• If you enable iCloud sync, your data syncs to your personal iCloud account
• We do not access, view, or control your stored links

Road Ledger

• Road Ledger is a vehicle expense and mileage tracking app
• Your expense data, receipts, and mileage logs are stored locally on your device
• If you enable iCloud sync, your data syncs to your personal iCloud account
• We do not access, view, or control your financial or mileage data
• Road Ledger is for informational purposes only and is not tax, legal, or financial advice

Updates

We may release updates to fix bugs, add features, or improve security. Some updates may be required for continued use. Apple may automatically download updates based on your device settings.

Your Data & Content

Ownership

You retain ownership of all data and content you create using our apps. We claim no ownership over your bookmarks, expense records, photos, or any other user-generated content.

Responsibility

You’re responsible for:

• Backing up your data (we recommend enabling iCloud sync)
• Ensuring you have the rights to any content you store
• The accuracy of expense and mileage records (for Road Ledger)
• Not storing illegal content in our apps

Data Portability

Our apps include export features so you can take your data with you. We believe in data portability and will never hold your data hostage.

Intellectual Property

Our Rights

BetaStries and our apps are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. This includes:

• App names, logos, and branding
• User interface designs and icons
• Source code and underlying technology
• Website content and documentation

Restrictions

Our apps are tools, not professional services:

• Road Ledger does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice. Consult a qualified professional for tax-related decisions.
• Store A Link is a personal productivity tool, not a backup or archival solution.

No Guarantees

We don’t guarantee that:

• Our services will meet your specific requirements
• Our services will be available at all times
• Any errors will be corrected
• The results obtained will be accurate or reliable

Limitation of Liability

Cap on Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BetaStries’ total liability for any claims arising from your use of our services is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Exclusions

We are not liable for any:

Termination

By You

• Uninstall our apps
• Delete your data using in-app features

• We’re required to by law
• We discontinue a service (with reasonable notice)

Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

• Your license to use our apps ends
• We have no obligation to maintain your data
• Sections that should survive (like Limitation of Liability) continue to apply

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
